The history of the Hotel Arturo: a legacy of tradition

1906 · The early days as a shop

Arturo began as a small shop where people from across the valley and the surrounding villages would shop.

The first item on record to have been sold there was a pair of “espardenyes”, a traditional catalan shoes, in 1906.

Shortly afterwards, Arturo Mir and Elisa Sastre decided to combine the shop with a café, turning the premises into a meeting place for the residents of Vall Fosca.

From shop and café to family-run guesthouse

With the next generation, the establishment was transformed into a family-run inn.

It was Arturo Mir and Pepita Faurat who shaped this new chapter.

Pepita cooked with love, simplicity and exquisite taste. Her traditional recipes delighted the palates of many generations and continue to form part of the essence of our cuisine to this day.

Home-made recipes

Arturo’s cuisine has evolved from generation to generation, preserving family recipes and dishes that are now house specialities.

Roser, daughter of the Mir-Faurat couple, carried on the family business, preserving her mother’s recipes and creating new dishes which, over the years, would become house specialities.

This style of cooking — homely, rustic and prepared with care — remains an essential part of Arturo.

From an inn to a hotel and restaurant

Over time, the old inn became the hotel and restaurant it is today.

Roser and Antonio Blázquez expanded the premises and transformed the old inn into the hotel and restaurant it is today, which serves Pallaresan cuisine and has always maintained a warm, family-like atmosphere for all those who visit the Arturo.

Today · We’re still opening the doors to our home

Today, Albert — the son of the house — and Mar continue along this path with the same warmth and hospitality.

We value mountain cuisine, the hands that prepare it and the hands that serve it to you. We like to keep alive this relaxed and welcoming family spirit that has been with Arturo all these years.

We hope that during your stay you will be able to experience a little of this history.

An old medieval house, restored and converted, which is now a hotel

The Hotel Arturo is housed in a former manor house dating back to medieval times, situated in the heart of Pobleta de Bellveí, in the Vall Fosca. Before becoming the hotel it is today, these walls had already borne witness to village life: fairs, conversations, travellers, shared meals and generations of families who have made this place a home full of life.
